[Compiled by Joan Harris Crise]

There have been settlers in the vicinity of the present town of Shelburne since the time of Charles de la Tour, the earliest families known were French, but this list is concerned with those families that were existing in that area, mostly between the towns of Barrington and Liverpool, when the Loyalists arrived in Port Roseway in the spring of 1783. Some of these people were originally Barrington settlers, others were Scotch Irish, part of the McNutt settlement, most of the remainder were from New England, The Loyalists named them “Old Settlers”.

  1. Hi Muriel.
Where can I find further information for Jesse Dexter, Peleg Dexter and Anthony Demings? Thank you,

  2. Am looking for Elizabeth Ann Marshall sometimes recorded (Annie Elizabeth Marshall ) born 12 August 1844 or 1845 she was born in Shelburne it says on her kids death records , I want to know who her parents are ,if you find any information will you email me Thank-you

  3. Victoria K Hamilton

I am researching Benjamin Arnold who is one of the old settlers, trying to find out where he was prior to residing in Little Harbor. I believe he was born somewhere around 1740-1750, possibly in Massachusettes.

  4. Looking for information on Captain Martin of Ragged Islands and possible descendents in Sable River…

  5. Am looking for information on Jeremiah Lloyd from Port Le Bear.DIED YEARS BACK.

  6. I’m looking for ancestors and possible connection to this John Hayden? I have. Second great grandfather named Patrick Hayden. He married and lived the rest of his fairly short life in San Francisco. All records were burned in the great SF Fire. His daughter died in Portland Oregon. On the papers her father Patrick is listed as being born in Nova Scotia. Other sources said Canada and a few said Ireland. This was my brick wall.

  7. Sorry, Peter ( not Patrick) Hayden born 1840 Nova Scotia. Died 1883 San Francisco California.
