13 Comments:

  1. Thank you! Gilbert McKay (#2 in the list) is my 5th great grandfather!

  2. My comment. The names of the soldiers listed are almost correctly spell. Although the drummer list it is questionable. Daniel or Donald Buchanan he was listed as a drummer. The reason I brought this to your attention: He and Charles McLachlin they both had a land granted within the Tracadie New-Brunswick area I know all their background Charles McLachlin ( now spell McLaughlin) is my grate grand father. The name James Rose is rather James Roy. If you wish to have further information please do not hesitate to reach me.
I was brought up in a French community but to the day I was born; the Scottish blood still deep in me.

  3. Great information. Thank you for posting !

  4. I am very interested in finding out more about Sgt. Peter Fisher. I believe he is the Peter Fisher who was born abt 1760, Albany, New York and died on Oct 8, 1795 Port Mouton, Queens County, Nova Scotia. He married Olive Sherwood of Albany, New York, either there or in Shelburne, Nova Scotia. I have yet to find their marriage date. I also would like to find out the name of their parents, if it is at all possible.]
They had five children: Peter, Ann, Charlotte, John and Christopher. Can you give me any help?

    • I don’t about about when he was born, but he passed on October 12th 1795. The house he was rewarded with in 1785 is still in my family. He was a spy in the military as one of MacDonnell’s Highlanders.

I don’t know much about the marriage. Olive Fisher is her name after marriage but there seems to be reference to her as Freelove Fisher, and the official document questions i her name prior was Olive Freelove.

Peter, Ann, and Charlotte were baptized by Rev John H. Rowland.

  5. This would be my grandfather..and I would appreciate any information on him, including the name of the ship he came from Scotland on! Thank You

  6. Frank W McLaughlin

Yes I will get to it as soon as possible. I must find my list again. At this very moment I am very much involve with the emergency communication department.
We had a severe Ice-storm around the 25 th of January and this throw us all back. Tracadie New-Brunswick is my home town. Yes I do have a lot of information in general except John McVicar is basically the one which is difficult to find information. The Martin came across from PEI and land it around Tabusintac where they did settled. Some have moved towered Edmonston NB. I have several request but will get back to it.
My first correspondence came from Ottawa then it was sent to Thomas McLachlin living in Daschworth just outside of London England. This gentleman I don’t know if he is still alive but he did help me a lot by going through the KEW office. You will be surprise how many of those did settle in New-Brunswick.

  7. Frank W McLaughlin

The Gallant are mostly all from PEI. Their name apperently are a derive from the Haché Hachey. There is plenty of them around.

  8. Frank W McLaughlin

Frank McKenna one of the X Prime Minister of New-Brunswick. The family came and still do live I would say roughly 60 miles from my home town Tracadie. You let me know exactly what you looking for I might be of some help.
Please note: Newcastle Chatham it all combine and it is now call Miramichi. McKenna were more on the Newcastle side.

  9. Trying to get more information on the McLean’s that are listed above. I have a Samuel and Alexander McLean both born in Shelburne in 1821 and 1823 respectively and wanted to see if I could link them to any of these McLeans

  10. Hello Thomas and Valerie, I would also like to learn about Peter Fisher. Can you point me in the right direction? He would be my 6th g great-grandfather. I can be reached at fisheram@gnspes.ca

    Thank you!

  11. I’d be interested in finding out more information about Donald Buchanan. My 5th great grandmother was named Clarinda Buchanan who married James Daley in Liverpool in 1793. Would any of their family have been with them? I haven’t found her family definitively yet, although there is a Clarinda Buchanan born in Kings County, New York around the right time who was a possibility before I found her marriage and death records still in New York.

  12. Peter Fisher was my 5th GreatGrandfather. If there is any additional information on Peter or his wife I would be greatly interesyed.
